Missed Appointment Policy If you miss and/or are late to 3 scheduled appointments, you will need to provide a deposit for the exam or service fee for each pet that is to come in. When you attend the scheduled appointment your deposit will be applied to the charges for your scheduled appointment.

The deposit is non-refundable if you do not show, cancel within 2 hours of the appointment time, or are more than 15 minutes late to the appointment to cover the exam cost.

Cancellation Policy Appointments scheduled before 10 am need to be rescheduled or canceled by 5 pm the night prior. If the appointment is scheduled after 10 am, please give us a call at least 2 hours prior to the appointment.

Vaccination Policy At Covina Animal Hospital, we require our patients to be up to date on their Rabies vaccine for elective treatments and diagnostics. Additionally, pets must be up to date on core vaccines (Rabies, Bordetella, and DHPP for dogs; Rabies and FVRCP for cats) prior to scheduling elective surgical procedures. This policy ensures the safety and well-being of both our patients and team. Please note that required vaccinations must be administered at least 14 days before elective services are scheduled. Medication Order Request
  • Please allow up to 72 hours for in-hospital medication requests when no additional supply is available.
  • ALL external store requests (like Chewy, Petmeds, Costco, CVS..) can take up to 7 days to review and process.
To approve any medication or order request, your pet must be up to date on their annual exam to maintain a valid Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR), as required by California law. Surgery Requirements

  • Preoperative lab work is required for all patients 2 years of age and older. Chest radiographs are required for all patients 8 years and older and must be completed no later than 72 hours prior to the scheduled procedure. Age requirements may vary based on patient history and are subject to the discretion of our doctors.
  • For all dental procedures and elective procedures, pets must be up to date on all core vaccines (Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella for dogs; Rabies and FVRCP for cats).
  • A $100 deposit is required to schedule surgery and will be applied toward the procedure. It is refundable if the appointment is canceled at least 24 hours in advance.
  • For safety, flea/tick control must be administered within 28 days, but no later than 72 hours before the procedure.
  • Pre-surgical medications need to be picked up prior to the scheduled surgery date. The medications need to be given 1 hour before check-in and may be given with a very small amount of food if needed.
  • No feeding after 8 p.m. the night before surgery. Water is fine overnight.
