General veterinary wellness exams are an essential part of keeping pets healthy and happy. During these exams, our veterinarians will perform a thorough physical examination of your pet, looking for signs of any health issues or potential problems. They will also check your pet's weight, temperature, and vital signs to ensure that everything is within normal ranges. The vet may also ask questions about your pet's diet, exercise routine, and behavior to gain a better understanding of the animal's overall health. Depending on your pet's age, breed, and health status, the vet may recommend additional tests, such as blood work or x-rays, to further evaluate your pet's health. By conducting regular wellness exams, we can catch and address any health issues early on, which can improve your pet's quality of life and increase their lifespan.

Wellness Exam

Wellness exams are critical to monitoring the overall health of your pet. Annual physical examinations by one of our veterinarians will help detect early signs of potential problems before they become costly for you and painful for your pet. For older pets, we recommend wellness exams every six months to maintain optimal health in their senior days. Our ultimate goal is to prevent disease and allow your pets to live longer, healthier lives with their family.

Follow-up exams are important to assess the medical progress of a patient's condition. Treatment plans often need to be adjusted to suit changes in chronic conditions, like kidney disease, liver disease, arthritis, and many others. For acute issues such as limping or ear infections, a medical progress exam is necessary to determine how well the treatment is working and whether or not it needs to be extended or adjusted.

Urgent Care Exam

An urgent care exam is performed for pets needing to be seen as soon as possible but are not in critical condition. Patients are triaged before seeing the doctor to determine urgency and then examined between our regularly scheduled appointments. During an urgent care exam, the doctor will perform a complete physical exam but the focus of the visit will be on the presenting issue only. Depending on the presenting issue, diagnostic testing will likely be recommended to assess what is going on with the patient. Pet's can't tell us what they are feeling or where they are hurting, so diagnostic testing is critical to evaluating overall health status.

**Urgent Care Exams are open to clients with an existing relationship with our hospital and are scheduled after initial phone triage. If your pet needs to be seen on an urgent basis, call to have the condition triaged and scheduled accordingly. We DO NOT accept walk-in urgent care.

Emergency Exam

Pets in critical condition and/or in need of immediate medical treatment (e.g. obstructed airway, anaphylactic shock, seizures, etc) will be seen by a doctor upon arrival and take priority over regularly scheduled appointments. Our hospital is equipped with the basic supplies necessary for stabilizing patients, but pets brought to us for emergency treatment/procedures will often be transferred to a local emergency hospital or an emergency specialty hospital that is able to provide specified medical care.

**Emergency treatment is only available to clients with an existing relationship with our hospital. Please call prior to your arrival so we can assist and prepare accordingly. We DO NOT accept walk-in emergencies for new clients.
